| Dr. Kinsey Phillips
"Our Hometown Hero"
Dr. Phillips has spent 27 of his 29 years in practice right here at the Commerce Veterinary Hospital. He brings many talents to our clinic and a smile to the faces of all our clients. His talent in the surgery suite is exceptional. He has honed his skills to include many difficult orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures. Because of this, he receives many referrals from other veterinary clinics. When we are not keeping him busy, Dr. Phillips enjoys many other activities such as hiking, gardening and woodworking. He has recently begun climbing mountains. We all think that if it wasn't for his love of animals, he would retire and make mountain climbing his focus! Since his three sons have all left home, he and his wife Joyce are trying to fill their empty nest with Labradors. I think they have succeeded since there is a dog for every child! | | Dr. Anne Shirley "Spay Queen" Dr. Anne Shirley is the daughter-in-law of Dr. S.J. Shirley who started our practice in 1954. She is married to Stone Shirley who owns and manages Shirley Feed and Seed in Commerce. Anne worked in the Atlanta area for Dr. Gary Bullard before joining our practice and brings valuable expertise in surgery and medicine. Anne has varied interests outside of veterinary medicine. She once sang in a rock band and has even toured in Europe! She enjoys hiking, reading, and is active in her church choir. | | Dr. Michelle Haag "Snake Doctor" Dr. Haag is well known for her abilities and knowledge of reptiles. She is the Dr. on our staff to see if you have any problems with an unusual pet (we call them exotic pets). She and her husband, Andy, operate The Georgia Reptile Conservatory, a reptile rescue and rehab center. She spends much of her spare time caring for the rescued animals and helping Andy do reptile education programs at nature centers and schools. She enjoys hiking and can spot more snakes than a hound dog! If you ever go on a hike with her, always let her walk first!!. Other than her expertise with exotic animals, Dr. Haag offers valuable expertise in difficult medicine cases.
Dr. Chrissie Shoemaker Chrissie achieved her dream of becoming a veterinarian at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine graduating in the spring of 2007. Her passion for helping all creatures great and small began at a very early age, as she was the primary caretaker for her family's large number and variety of pets. She worked in various capacities for animal hospitals throughout high school and college in the Atlanta area. One of her favorite memories is working for a veterinary ophthalmologist, where she had the opportunity to care for pandas at Zoo Atlanta! This has carried over into an interest in eye problems and care. When she is not working, Chrissie loves to bake. She treats us with her great grandmother's special oatmeal cookies!

Crystal actually worked as a receptionist and veterinary assistant for Commerce Veterinary Hospital when she was in highschool and in undergraduate school. She currently resides in Commerce with her husband Jeff, her daughter Kayla, and her two cats. After having worked at CVH for only a few months, Crystal caught the "running bug" from Dr. Phillips and completed a half marathon in October of 2009. In her spare time, Crystal enjoys baking, especially chocolate cakes, and volunteers for the media department at her church. Crystal is a valued member of our practice team, and is loved by her patients.
